| As an after dinner performance, Barry Skipsey’s Red Centre Show is a truly local, unique and memorable presentation, designed and produced for those visiting Central Australia for the first time.
Whilst many conference delegate’s take the opportunity to experience and explore the local landscape, the Red Centre Show is a forty-minute audio visual roller coaster ride that will leave visitors in awe of the Territory’s rich cultural diversity and ancient rock formations.
Through imagery and song, the Red Centre Show covers the life, love and landscape as interpreted through Barry’s eyes. With the passionate delivery and performance of his songs, accompanied by the projection of his stunning photography, Barry clearly conveys what it is that has held him in this corner the world (Central Australia) for the better part of three decades. Leaving the bustling city streets of Melbourne behind him, a new life of enriched creativity followed his initial six-week trip to the NT.
His audience will see the local Todd River , running through the heart of Alice Springs , transform itself from a dry and tranquil riverbed to that of a ragging torrent during his song “TODD RIVER”. Through his version of John Williamson’s “TRUE BLUE” , images of pioneers, both past and present, black and white, will fill the screen with their spirit, warmth, humility and determination.
To ad a little more contrast during his performance, in true Australian BUSH VERSE style, the Red Centre Show is punctuated with one or two side splitting bush yarns, “THE CROSS EYED BULL” and
“A GRAVE SITUATION”, to name a few.

BARRY SKIPSEY.
BARRY SKIPSEY is a passionate and creative performer. As an Alice Springs based, award-winning artist, he has a story to tell through his unique Audio Visual presentation, the Red Centre Show. He is an Australian Geographic Photographer and a past “ Photographer of the Year” (1994). Having performed nationally and internationally on behalf of the Northern Territory Tourist Commission, Barry Skipsey is the writer of the Territories famous anthem, “YOU’LL NEVER NEVER KNOW, IF YOU NEVER NEVER GO” . His songs have been recorded by many including the late and great country music statesman, SLIM DUSTY.
THE IMAGES .Two hundred (plus) stunning images, as produced by this Australian Geographic Photographer are projected as a digital Power Point presentation.
THE SONGS . As a songwriter, Barry has timed and co ordinated his images to harmonize and marry perfectly with the lyrics of his songs.
DURATION . The performance is timed to a standard 40 minutes, however it can be tailored to suit any function, convention or venue time slot.
TECH: IMAGES . As an Alice Springs Conference presentation, Barry finds himself working with local company, Top End Sounds more often than not. As most conferences utilise sound, projection and screen facilities in the course of their delegate’s Power Point presentations, there is no requirement foradditional equipment to run the show. Images are timed and appear on CD. As a rule the show is loaded onto the hard drive of the sound engineer’s PC Laptop. The images will then be running as a standard power point presentation.
TECH: SOUND . Barry performs with an acoustic, six string guitar that is played through the house sound system. As such, the only other additional equipment is as follows:
1 x Di. (direct input for guitar)
1 x Vocal Mike.
1 x Fold back monitor.
1 x TV Monitor within site of performer. (enables Barry to que his vocal performance)
PERFORMANCE FEE .
The performance fee covers all pre production time in preparing the disc of images and his “ Red Centre Show ” performance. It also covers (if required) a 30 minute performance of Australian Contemporary Bush Ballads and Country songs as background entertainment (without visuals) whilst dinner guests arrive to take their seats.
